Mint

It occurred to me this afternoon that I haven't really looked at my bank statement in a few months. That's really scary! I don't really spend much outside of rent, utilities, school, and the occasional plane ticket. I charge less than $100 on shopping, but surprisingly have spent over $300 in groceries!* How much food can I possibly consume? Although it's more like, I have to stop being enticed by imported gourmet olive oil.

Obviously, the screen shot above is not from my iPad, but mint.com is a nifty website that helps get your finances into order, including student loans. Not only is it easy to maneuver, the simple graphics are ironically dramatic, scaring the bejeezus out of me because I can see how large of the pie slice is spent on food. I also made a plan to pay off my student loans within the next 10 years, and it's definitely do-able.

One plus is that I can justify my spending. I have responsibly restrained myself from spending money on frivolous items (including lambskin ballet flats and lavish dinners) so the budget can unbuckle a notch or two during this summer.
