Tech fix

Oh mylanta. I thought I was going to have a meltdown when I realized Laptop no.3's screen kept flickering, a sure terminal sentence just a few days before my first neuroanatomy exam. A few weeks earlier, the webcam was not recognized hardware, and even months before that, the built-in microphone was not picking up sound. Sure, I could live without either function, but the debilitating state of no.3 threw me into financial panic mode.

I resolved to making a Wal-Mart trip in order to pick up precision screwdrivers and compressed air. What else have I got to lose? Definitely not the warranty.

To my surprise, it was a simple fix. The webcam ribbon was unplugged. I gingerly secured it in place and added a teensy piece of electrical tape for good measure. Salvaged!

Then, I got bolder. I dug out Laptop no.2 (the flooded one) and started tinkering with it. After finding no loose ends, I gave myself a "good try" and pushed the power button to humor myself.

"HOLY SHIT!" I exclaimed when the Windows logo appeared on screen. No.2 is restored to full function, and I am beside myself with excitement. Now if only my car could restore itself to pristine condition.

  1. Wow!! Mind doing that to my white Vaio laptop?! (You may think I'm joking but I am mostly serious...) Maybe on an off weekend I can try tinkering with my white laptop too! You've given me so much hope about this haha.

If all else fails, don't be surprised if you receive a familiar white Vaio laptop in the mail!!! (Ok that time I was kidding).
