Geez, those Step 1 months were not kind. I think it is safe to say that cloud has been lifted, and I survived surgery! I did pretty well, and the icing on the cake would be a high pass if I honored my OSCE. At the very least my evals were full of kind and inspiring comments from the three (toughest) surgeons I admired the most.
It's been two weeks into pediatrics and the pace has been wildly different. I was in the Nursery and NICU during that time with the kindest and gentlest soul I've ever known. I'll be moving to Ward this week. I'm still at a lost of what I want to do. Surgery was crossed out after some time away from it, but after running into a high-school friend with some encouraging words, I feel I should reconsider. You see, every time I pass the OR, I get excited. There are some other roles that have OR time like anesthesiology or OB/GYN. I'll avoid this muddiness for now.
I will say that the inception of a new crush has been making my days a little brighter. Nothing like hearing that you're pretty can instill some missing confidence. I doubt it will go any further than the occasional ribbing, but it's still refreshing.
Hear's to more positivity and acing this quiz tomorrow.
