My relationship with sleep has been pretty terrible lately. I shouldn't be staying up past 12am, but there's this romantic idea that I can sneak away with 5 hours of sleep. I tried 4 hours yesterday and almost nodded off during today's interviews. Granted, I slept for 10 hours on Monday and felt lousy waking up to 8 unread texts and a inbox full of emails to reply. Compensation? Perhaps.
I've also been really restless with being alone lately. There are only 2 lectures this entire clerkship compared to 4hrs/day in other rotations where I would at least see my classmates. I don't care to read, although I've been chugging away at the Q&A book. I've been wanting to cook elaborate dishes but hesitate when I realize it is just me for dinner. Okonomiyaki sliders tomorrow though! Where are all my pork eating friends? I want to attempt Bo Ssam.
I threw a dinner party/post-golden 25th birthday dinner/post-NBME celebration two weeks ago and had to curb to some challenging dietary restrictions: no beef, no pork, no seafood, no alcohol, Halal. Hrm, if I had a vegan in the mix, we all would have resorted to eating kale and quinoa croquettes. It was still a tasty fondue pot, but I wish I could have added some kirsch and wine. The apple cider vinegar was not a great substitute and overpowered the gruyere and emmanteler. Plus, it was super pungent and acerbic.
Anyway, where are you pork-eating, pine and clove scented, late-night television writer? I am in desire of some bacon jam and schmoozing with some classic flicks.
