I felt awful last night. Sudden wave of nausea came over me, and I was hitting the ground, throwing up the coconut curry soup I made for dinner. Usually there is a stressor associated with an emesis episode, but not this time. There was a likely organic cause, probably the decision to use week-old chicken as filler.
There is a lot going on my mind though. I submitted my first away elective application to UW. I was expecting to send the first one to Drexel, but I neglected to get this signature. This week also happens to be match week, so the office of student affairs has asked third years to kindly keep away until next Monday. For the other schools, I'm just waiting until transcripts get posted, and then I can submit.
I'm also in need to turn in my 4th year schedule. It's mostly done, but I won't get to mark it off my list until next Monday as well. Then, there's the personal statement business. I started writing Saturday, and it was mostly terrible. Perhaps, I can try again tonight. Two more weeks until I need to get it done since I'll be heading to the main campus to speak with the department chair.
I also feel like I should be studying ahead for internal medicine, but at the same time, I'm trying to study for psychiatry and fitting in neurology reading sessions. Maybe I should just calm down. It's only the third week of the rotation. I just don't like that I'll be among the last group, and there's so much that goes on. It seems very stressful, and the rest of my friends will have gone through it. They seem to be enjoying it minus a few hang-ups.
I'm also just irritated by social interactions lately. It seems I can't get a word into a conversation without being cut-off or my point being invalidated. Furthermore, I was angry about others telling my highlights of the week. It's not the matter of confidentiality, but I would rather tell the happenings, so I know what details were mentioned and what was left out. It felt like my ability to participate was taken away. Now, it even seems I'm getting left out of some circles and conversations. Mindy Kaling's neurotic fear of "Is everyone hanging out without me?" is washing over me. I really wish I knew others outside of medical school. The balance feels off right now.
On the bright side, Friday is Spring Day due to the seniors match ceremony. What to fill it up with? I'm not sure.
